Interview with (the real) Bat Attakk!

(the real) Bat Attakk is probably one of the most well known band in the horror D.I.Y scene. They are amazing in every way.
It's hard not to fall in love with their nerdy, creepy look.
We are all big fans of them here at Monstertanz.



Here it is, the interview with Gotthilf and Riediger of Bat Attakk;

1. For starters: what is Bat Attakk and how did it all start?

Gotthilf: (the real) Bat Attakk is like an atomic bomb made of a pocket calculator, chewing gum & your father’s slipover. You still remember MacGyver, right?

2. Who are the creatures behind it?

Riediger: Creatures? We’re all human… unfortunately…

3. How do you make your music?

Riediger: We play keyboards by telekinesis … ‘cause we’re fucking genius!

4. Who writes the songs and who makes the fabulous artwork?

Gotthilf: Our genetically enhanced guinea-pig, called Jerry does all the work.
It has a devilock… and lots of muscles… ehm…

5. From where do you draw your inspiration? Which are your influences?

Riediger: Too much tv, too many video games. TILT. Game over.

6. Is there any other band that you like and/or respect?

Gotthilf: Zed Dread, The Boo Berry’s, The Archers, Harassed, Bombenalarm, Camp Z … and David Hasselhoff of course … he ‘sung down’ the Berlin wall!!! Germany owes him oh sooo much … muhahaha
!



7. How did you get so big on your own?

Gotthilf: Spinach – a lot of spinach!

8. After some time in the grave you rose again under the name the (real) Bat Attakk, what is the difference between that and the ”old” Bat Attakk?

Riediger: The difference lies in the words 'the real' ... damn journalists. Ah, and
my hunchback is gone… and the scars… damn, it’s a miracle.

9. Who is Zed Dread and what is your connection with him?

Gotthilf: He’s a genius – just like us …. And the sexiest piano-player in the whole wide world … for sure

10. I’ve heard some rumours that a part of Bat Attakk visited Sweden this summer, what did you think of what you saw of the swedish horrormusic-scene?

Gotthilf: Sweden? I booked a flight to Romania!!! Damn, now I know why there were all these elks instead of Dracula’s castle. Shit!

11. Where can I get myself a Mutant Chihuahua from Planet Bones?

Riediger: You can’t get them at the shops, but here’s a construction manual:

1 ordinary Chihuahua
1 bunch of broccoli
1 piece of the pink blob
1 fearless assistant

Then do the same as the guy in FRANKENSTEIN and you will have your very own mutant chihuahua to have a walk with.



12. What is Caressing the Creature and Walking on Six Legs?

Gotthilf: That’s “music” we record during our toilet breaks.

13. What is the best thing with the D.I.Y culture?

Gotthilf: Uhhh, what does this mean? Danger – Intelligent Yoghurt???

14. What are your plans for the future? Is there a future?

Riediger + Gotthilf: As serious scientists we have to tell you: We have no fucking idea! There's no such thing as the future. It's an artificial term, made up by scientists with a consciousness to stop people like us with false moralism...


15. The last and least serious question; Count Dracula or Frankenstein's Monster?

Riediger + Gotthilf: Count Count, Grover and the Cookie Monster are really scary! Those are our idols! Remember, we’re nerds!!!




Interviewing Bat Attakk was a wonderful experience. They were a bit mad and one of them tried to feed me a bunch of toxic roses. But besides that it was heaven.
